The Cannon cameras I have seen at the $100 price point or even the $150 price point are usually 2 mp with digital zoom only. $500 it will still be hard to use at $100. there might have also been some color issues. I think the bad review was to to the opposite of it being difficult to use, they thought it was too simple. A lot of the stuff in the review was complicated professional photography stuff.
